As humans, we often find ourselves hesitating to step out of our comfort zone and try something new. The fear of the unknown can be paralysing, making us doubt our abilities and potential for growth. But what if we told you that at Aerial Arts Academy, there is a community waiting to support you in conquering your fears and unlocking your inner strength through pole fitness?
It's understandable that the idea of pole fitness might evoke mixed emotions for many. The fear of judgment, feeling out of place, or not being strong or flexible enough can be daunting for beginners. However, at Aerial Arts Academy, we believe that the biggest fear is taking the first step.
Pole fitness is not just about physical strength and flexibility; it's a transformative journey that empowers individuals to embrace their bodies, build confidence, and cultivate a sense of community. The poles at our academy serve as a tool for self-expression, allowing individuals to explore graceful movements, build core strength, and unleash their creativity in a safe and supportive environment.
We understand that the thought of starting something new can be intimidating, but we encourage you to challenge yourself and push past your limitations. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to guiding you through your pole fitness journey, ensuring that you feel comfortable, empowered, and motivated to reach your goals. You don't need any prior experience or a certain body type to join our classes – all you need is a willingness to learn and grow.
So, what can you expect as a beginner?
The Aerial Arts Academy syllabus is packed full of moves and combos to learn under the guidance of instructors. Each level takes about 6-8 weeks to complete but is done completely at your own pace!
At Aerial Arts Academy we find that the most empowering tool we can give to our students is the ability to continue growing and avoid becoming stagnant. The AAA syllabus is designed to ensure that instructors can keep providing you with new and empowering moves suitable to your level, and that you feel accomplished.
Level 1
So, it’s your first day. You’ll be brought into class and introduced to your teachers and some of your peers. You’ll be put at ease straight away with our welcoming approach.
During the lesson, expect to be taken through a 4/5 moves that combine both strength and endurance. Beginners level 1 is all about building confidence and ensuring that you have all the basics needed for the next level. Basic moves include Fireman spin, simple seat, lift and slide and more! Many of the spins in this level focus on push and pull techniques and lat engagement.
Over the next 6-8 weeks you’ll go through level one with your instructor, learning not just how to do tricks but also how to put moves together in exciting flow sequences.
Level 2
In Level 2 we continue to build on the basics, whilst introducing more strength-based moves such as High Flick – an essential building block move that is required for going upside down!
Level 3
Things get even more exciting in this level! Over the last 12 -14 weeks you’ve been building fundamental strength. Using your new superpowers, we will introduce going Upside Down – from the floor and up the pole.
Level 4
Level 4 is the last level of beginners. We continue to build on those strength-based moves and add in more complex inversions such as Inverted Crucifix.
By this point, you have probably worked on both static and spinny pole too and we encourage the use of both along your pole journey.
What happens after each level?
When you are near to completing each level we give you a level sheet and work with you to develop 2/3 combos. You then have the opportunity to dance to the music of your choice and showcase your combo. You can spend however long you like developing your combos – there is no time restriction at all.
Being an embracing community, we encourage you to find your unique dance style, and advocate wearing whatever you want – heels, no heels, shorts or thongs – whatever you are comfortable in will be embraced and encouraged.
When you have completed your grading, you’ll leave with a shiny AAA fridge magnet celebrating your achievement.

What happens after Level 4?
The fun doesn’t stop there. We have more levels in Intermediate, Advanced and Masterclass pole that you can get your teeth into.
At Aerial Arts Academy, we celebrate diversity and individuality, emphasising that every journey is unique and valuable. We encourage you to let go of your fears, step into our studio, and experience the transformative power of pole fitness.
Join our supportive community, meet new friends, and discover the strength and confidence that have been within you all along.
